Do at Least One Thing for your Business Every Day

Some of the best advice I’ve received recently is to do at least one thing for your business every day. Ideally you (not you reading this, the general you!) would spend an hour or more each day, because of course more is (generally) better — but who has time to do that every day? Certainly not me. Instead, my goal is to do at least one thing. For me, that looks different on different days. Some days I plan my Instagram posts for the week; other days I spend time reading about SEO; still other days I work on content and strategy. Some days I might just go to a farmers market and talk with the local vendors and artisans there. One any given day I might spend 10 minutes or 2 hours (as I’ve mentioned before, I also work a full time job) on the site.

I find that even on days when I don’t feel like working on the site, I can motivate myself by reminding myself that it’s just one thing. Generally, after I do that one thing I’m in the zone and ready to do more… but not always. I give myself grace on those days, and remind myself that there’s always tomorrow.

One of the things I’ve done recently is add an events calendar to the site: https://localvendorlookup.com/events/month/. I’m excited about that, as it will help people find all the farmers markets around Nashville (as I’ve said before, I have plans to expand the site, but for now I’m focusing on Nashville!). There are so many farmers markets in the area! It’s amazing. So many of us fall into the habit of just visiting the farmers market we’re familiar with, but hopefully seeing them all on the calendar will inspire folks to try some new markets!
